We are pleased to present one of our bigger projects in Berlin. This new residential area is located in the southeastern part of Berlin, not far from Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The project includes 41 residential housing blocks with two or three floors. The whole area will offer 226 apartments.
The challenge was to keep this area green enough to harmonise with the neighbouring areas. To reach this target, green spaces were planned between the buildings as well. The green roofs should bring the established advantages for the future residents: better air quality (reduction of CO2 emissions, air purification), better rainwater retention, better indoor air quality.
Urbanscape was installed on the roofs as a complete green roof system. For this project the already green blankets and the quick rooting and growing process are the most significant advantages that facilitate the prompt completion of the roof. Just a few months after installation, we could already see how the sedum plants were growing and how the biodiversity had developed on the roofs.
