Urbanscape® Extensive Flat Green Roof Systems represent the core product range featuring a modular layer design consisting of 3 – 4 core layers.
Our core focus are systems with pre-grown vegetation which guarantee the best benefits for the customer, immediately resulting in the final appearance without having to wait months for the green roof to actually become green.
All our systems can be easily modified and adapted to specific climates by combining different layer types (and thicknesses).

Sedum vegetated green roof designed by Urbanscape can be up to six times lighter than traditional green roof systems. This lightness means most buildings have a comfortable load-bearing capacity that is sufficient, and architects can even plan green roofs where it had not been possible before, such as on lightweight metal constructions. They can also be much thinner without compromising the performance, as Urbanscape® Green Roll growing media can hold up to 3-4 times more water per its volume than other green roof substrates.

The different combinations of layers offer different performances in relation to climate conditions.
For optimum stormwater detention characteristics, a separate detention layers can be implemented.
This makes our systems a state-of-the-art natural stormwater management tool.
Urbanscape® Green Roof System is provided with complete, easy to install layers delivered directly to the customer. Due to the use of new innovative Urbanscape® Green Roll, no special equipment is required for installation and maintenance.
On average Urbanscape® Green Roll is 8-10 times lighter than other regular green roof substrates, so Urbanscape® Green Roof system can be installed also on lightweight constructions where traditional systems are not possible. Further on, the Urbanscape® Green Roof System can also be much thinner (even more decreasing the weight) than traditional green roof system. Smaller thickness of the system will not compromise the performance due to the fact that Urbanscape® Green Roll can hold up to 3-4 times more water per its volume than other green roof substrates. Therefore less thickness is needed to achieve the same water absorption.
Urbanscape® Green Roll ensures significantly lower labour intensity. For sufficient water absorption capacity and appropriate growing base for vegetation of 1000 m² of green roof, 2-5 tons of Urbanscape® Green Roll Substrate are needed compared to above 100 tons of traditional green roof substrates.
Urbanscape® Green Roll is made from various rock mixtures which are widely available in nature. The lightweight open structure of substrate promotes extensive root distribution and plant growth.
Urbanscape® Green Roll provides for fast and long term stable water re-absorption and water retention performance. Depending on climate zones, different types of Urbanscape® Green Rolls are used.
Urbanscape® system provides for an irrigation system and the perfect water distribution between vegetation layer and the Urbanscape® Green Roll growing medium. It has the advantage to save water in relation to sprinklers that irrigate on top of the vegetation.
Urbanscape® system ensures a long lasting cooling effect due to the high water storage capacity. Roofs with Urbanscape® Green Roof System reduce heat gain compared to the non-vegetated roofs due to the thermal mass, extra insulation, and evapotranspiration associated with the vegetative roofing systems.
A1 Euroclass of non-combustibility is confirmed for Urbanscape® Green Roll Substrate. According to EN 13501-1, Class A1 products will not contribute in any stage of the fire including the fully developed fire.
Urbanscape® Green Roof System reduces noise pollution through surface absorption and provides mitigation of unacceptable noise level that affect health, safety and the well-being of the urban population.

Length-adjustable and lockable green roof edge profile and corner profiles with perforation for drainage, constructed from aluminium. Supplied with two locking clips, two optional heights, fixed by ballast (no roof structure penetration). Suitable for flat and gentle inclines.
Galvanised steel Urbanscape® Profile holder to support edge profiles (Urbanscape® L-profile) placed at the edge of roofs with a pitch over 12°.
The Urbanscape® Biodiversity Kit has been carefully assembled to create more biodiversity on extensive green roofs, thereby also increasing their ecological value. The biodiversity package is supplied on a pallet.
Optigrün Drainage and Storage Board FKD 20 is made from deep-drawn regenerated HDPE with water storage function, a channel system on the underside for drainage, as well as diffusion and drainage holes.
Urbanscape® Drainage System with buffer 40 is a double sided drainage and reservoir board made from recycled high-impact polystyrene with excellent load bearing capacity specifically designed for green roofs. The panels are perforated on one side to allow installation with the holes on the upper side for water retention.
Urbanscape® Drainmat/Drainmat PVT is a three-dimensional, light and flexible composite matting made up of a drainage core of looped polypropylene filaments, which gives it a high drainage capacity, provided on both sides with a nonwoven filter fabric. The components are thermally bonded together over the entire contact area.
Aluminium anchor profile for fixing the Urbanscape GALV Profile in case of slightly sloped roofs (up to 8 °) and roofs without a parapet.
Length-adjustable and lockable green roof edge profile and separation board bent along 3 edges, with perforation for drainage, constructed from hot dip galvanized steel. Suitable for flat and gentle inclines green roof systems.
These polypropylene filter membranes inhibit the leeching of fine particles from geotextile made of UV stabilized polypropylene fibers, for filtering and separating purposes on extensive green roofs.
Urbanscape® Geotextile 300 is a geotextile made of PES thread using needle felting. Urbanscape® Geotextile 300 has many different applications on green roofs, but it is primarily used for filtration and mechanical protection. Urbanscape® Geotextile 300 is thermally fixed and is usually used to provide mechanical protection and aid water retention.
This mechanical protection layer protects the surface of the waterproofing layer from physical damage. Urbanscape® 300-REC and 500-REC are thermally treated on both sides, made of 100 % synthetic fibres.
Urbanscape® Green Roll is made of long rock mineral wool fibres specially needled to form a compact and dimensionally stable felt. Product is made solely of virgin rock mineral fibres. Urbanscape® Green Roll ensures excellent water retention and conservation in green roofs and is a good growing medium made from various mineral mixtures.
The Urbanscape® Inspection Box is installed over the outlets on extensive green roofs as part of the Urbanscape® Green Roof System. It simplifies the inspection and maintenance of drainage outlets. The box consists of a high-quality polypropylene base with weight distribution footprints and a lockable lid with a built-in stainless steel filter grid to secure the drainage of overflow from the green roof build-up as well as surface water from the vegetation layer. The custom designed inspection box also prevents contamination and stops plants from growing over the outlet.
The Urbanscape® QuickBox is installed over the outlets on extensive green roofs as part of the Urbanscape® Green Roof System. According to FLL Guideline drainage outlets have to be accesible all the time. The Urbanscape® QuickBox allows the inspection and maintenance of drainage outlets. The box consists of a high-quality polypropylene base with weight distribution footprints and a lockable lid with openings to secure the drainage of overflow from the green roof build-up as well as surface water from the vegetation layer.
Urbanscape® Root Membrane is a black LD Polyethylene regenerate which is used to prevent the roots penetrating in green roofs. In accordance with FLL Guidelines for the Planning, Execution and Upkeep of Green-Roof Sites.
Urbanscape® Drainage with buffer Q25 / Q25-C, Q40-Q40C is a drainage and reservoir board (25 mm height) made from recycled polystyrene with excellent load-bearing capacity specifically designed for green roofs. The panels are perforated on one side to allow installation with the holes on the upper side for water retention. It is designed for flat and sloped green-roof systems with a slope of up to 20°. The drainage is made of high-quality plastic to ensure that the system is lighter and more compact in comparison with regular drainage layers. It complies with the FLL Guidelines for the Planning, Execution and Upkeep of Green-Roof Sites.
The Urbanscape® Sedum Slow-Release Fertilizer is a controlled, slowly releasing fertilizer, effective for up to 9 months. The fertilizer improves the rooting of the vegetation, resulting in healthy and strong plants. The essential components, i.e. nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, ensure constant root growth as well as high resilience and resistance.
The biodegradable Urbanscape® Sedummix blankets comprise eight to twelve different species of Sedum. The blankets boast at least 95% coverage upon delivery. The sebaceous sedum plants are adept at storing water in their leaves and are therefore extremely suitable for varying weather conditions.
The biodegradable Urbanscape® Sedum-herb blanket is a vegetation blanket in which the Sedum plants are supplemented with a variety of flowering herbs. This results in varied and colourful vegetation on the roof. This variation in vegetation is particularly attractive for bees and butterflies and so it contributes to increased biodiversity.
The Anti-Shear Urbanscape® Substrate Holder is a plastic grid made of recycled HDPE/LDPE. It can be supplied in types S50 and S75, depending on the applied system build-up scheme.

A web application for smart modeling of green roofs for storm-water management
New online application for smart modeling of Urbanscape green roofs for storm-water management has also been developed during EUREKA project – Urbanscape ProPET.
The online modelling application allows you to model and adapt Urbanscape Green Roof Systems according to storm-water management requirements, such as the type of storm for the selected location, and project specifics, such as maximum outflow, thus ensuring optimal detention and rainwater runoff from Urbanscape Green Roofs in extreme conditions.
