Sloped area with limited bearing. For this project, the amount of green roof soil normally used for intensive green roofs in Tokyo had to be reduced.
Instead of using 30−40 cm of green roof soil we have designed a combination of Urbanscape® mineral growing media and green roof soil in total thickness of less than 20 cm. In its dry state, this combination is at least 50 % lighter per m2 than the regular design, however, it still provides a good water retention.
